Tele-intensive care program is a transformational program facilitating proactive technologies and two-way audiovisual communication between intensivists, critical care nurses, and other critical care team specialists, in other to provide remote ICU care. Hospitals are utilising tele-ICU programs to gain access to intensivists or use the service for an additional layer of critical care support. The patient-related interactions in tele-ICU allow telecommunication and the exchange of health information. The shortage of ICU personnel which is caused by highly complex environments and large responsibilities on ICU staff and remote monitoring by physicians and nurses trained in critical care is driving the tele-intensive care unit market.
