Colouration and Itching are Common Side Effects of Deodorants

November, 2024

Organic Deodorant Market

Reported Adverse Effects of Deodorants, 2018-2020 (%)

The organic deodorant market is highly driven due to its neutralizing odor, which causes bacteria and creates a pleasant scent. Compared to traditional deodorants, which have harsh chemicals that block sweat glands and cause skin irritation and rashes, switching to organic deodorants is a safer choice. Common ingredients used in organic deodorants are baking soda, arrowroot powder, coconut oil, shea butter, essential oils, and zinc ricinolates.

This graph shows the adverse effects of using traditional deodorants. This set of data is based on a survey conducted on 554 participants. Among the participants, 79% were female users, and 21% were male users. 25% of total participants experienced at least one of the adverse effects of using deodorants. The side effects usually depend on the form of deodorant. For instance, a powder form deodorant in talcum material is known to irritate the respiratory tract and might be carcinogenic. Similarly, the spray form predominantly causes itching and sneezing due to its volatile nature.

The organic deodorant market is anticipated to expand in eco-friendly packaging in the coming future. Major key players in the market are incorporating zero-waste packaging with no plastic material product packaging. This initiative encourages consumers to adopt reusable and recyclable packaging

  • In May 2024, Dove launched a new line of natural deodorants catering with VitaminCare+. The range is available across the US in six fragrance options, from Raspberry & Rose to Peaches & Shea Butter.

Nothing more exciting happening here in terms of content, but just filling up the space to make it look, at least at first glance, a bit more representative of how this would look in a real-world application.
