According to the chart, consumption of total fertilizer nutrients (NPK) increased marginally in east and west zone by 1% and 1.2 % respectively over the period of 2021-22 and 2022-23. However, there is a decline observed in North and South by 0.3 % and 1.2 % respectively. This season-wise performance is analysed based on Kharif and rabi crops.
Kharif crops grow in monsoon and their cropping season is from July to October. The crops it includes rice, maize, millets, ragi, soybean, pulses, groundnuts and many more. Rabi crops are grown in the winter season and harvested in summer; its cropping season is from October to April. The rabi crops include wheat, oats, barley, potato, cabbage, tomato, fennel, garlic, onion and many more.
