November, 2024

Electric SUV Market

Sales of E-SUV Kia Ev9 by Month in the U.S., 2024 (in Unit)

An electric SUV is an electric sports utility vehicle which works on electricity instead of conventional internal combustion fuel engines. Some of the vehicles are partially operated on electricity known as Hybrid SUV. To operate easily on rough surfaces and public roads, some of these vehicles are equipped with all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive systems. Among all the vehicles electric SUVs are most popular and in demand as they offer zero carbon emission, noise-free operation and potentially lower running cost as compared to ICE based vehicles. Instead of traditional IC engines, these vehicles are powered by batteries and motors. Moreover, the increasing adoption of fuel-efficient mobility options is expected to witness significant growth to propel the e-SUV market share. Owing to the government incentives for electric vehicles sales and purchases along with infrastructure development, the U.S. holds highest market share globally.

  • In 2023, nearly 14 million new electric cars were registered globally.
  • In the unites states, new electric car registration estimated up to 1.4 million in 2023. It has witnessed a 40% increase rate as compared to the previous year 2022.
  • Nearly 70% of the electric car stock was registered in 2023 which are battery electric cars.
