Cannulas Diameter Diversification is a Result of Higher Minimally Invasive Surgeries

November, 2024

Cannula Market

Types of Cannula with Diameter(in mm)

A cannula is a thin tube that medical professionals insert into persons body cavity for various purposes like to drain fluid from body, to enter liquid medication into the body and to provide oxygen with least invasion. There are several sizes of intravenous cannulas.

  • The most common sizes range from 14 to 22 gauge.

The higher the gauge number, the smaller the cannula. Different-sized cannulas move liquid through them at different rates, known as flow rates.

  • 14 gauge cannula can pass approximately 270 milliliters (ml) of saline in 1 minute.
  • 22 gauge cannula can pass 31 ml in 21 minutes.

The increase in demand for minimally invasive surgeries, the rise in the number of surgeries among the geriatric population, and the significant increase in the prevalence of chronic lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases are the primary factors that are driving the market growth. The increasing demand for cannulas is being met by a rising number of manufacturers and suppliers across the globe. These market leaders, with their extensive distribution networks, make technologically advanced products readily available worldwide.

Nothing more exciting happening here in terms of content, but just filling up the space to make it look, at least at first glance, a bit more representative of how this would look in a real-world application.
